11 Jan 3 New Skin Resolutions
It’s January, and new skin resolutions are being made all across the country. After a few weeks of festive indulgence – and a little laziness when it comes to skin care – it’s time to get back on track and make a few simple changes. Here are 3 new skin resolutions that could really transform your skin. Perhaps best of all, they’re easy to keep!
1. Moisturise After Showering
Our skin needs water to thrive. However, much of this water evaporates before it’s really had a chance to make a difference. If you’re using a moisturiser like AproDerm® to combat dry skin, it’s recommended that you apply it to wet skin for optimal performance. Applying moisturiser to wet skin means you’re trapping the moisture that’s already on the surface, giving it more time to get to work. Keep your AproDerm® next to your bath or shower so you don’t forget.
2. Remove Your Makeup Before Bed
After a long day, taking off makeup is the last thing we want to do before crawling into bed. But leaving it on overnight is one of the worst things you can do for your skin. While we sleep, our bodies repair themselves. However, a thick layer of makeup can ‘prevent normal skin shedding. Slowing down the usual renewal process, resulting in uneven and dull textured skin’, according to European Dermatology London.
3. Be Open to Change
If you’re trying out some new products, don’t expect to see results overnight. In fact, the outer layer of the skin – the epidermis – renews itself every 2 to 4 weeks, which is why products like anti-ageing creams usually claim you’ll see results within 6 weeks. If after 6 weeks you haven’t noticed any difference in your skin, it could be that a specific product just doesn’t work for you; try an SLS- or fragrance-free product.
It’s reported that 63% of UK adults break their New Year’s resolutions, with 43% of quitters failing during January. Strict regimes are cited as a main reason for giving up, which is why these three resolutions are so great – they’re so easy to work into your normal routine!
